My Favorite Cookie!?

Three years ago my friend started ‘explaining’ Starbucks to me.  Soon I learned how to order and now it takes about 4 -5 minutes to do so.  I love my ‘Buckies’ and I have my gold card.  So, that is how the cup got into my picture this time.

The cookie?  This one was discovered about 7 years ago when I told my sister Bellingham was ‘close’ to the airport!!!  Ha-ha.  A number of hours later we were in Bellingham and stumbled across the La Vie En Rose Bakery and Deli.  This cookie can be found on West Holly in Bellingham, WA  306.715.1839.  Bless my besty, Leslie, she brought me one last weekend.  I knew there was a reason I loved her so much.

I poured my coffee, and broke into the rich, sugary, chocolately piece of heaven.  This is their ginger molasses cookie with fresh ginger and ground black pepper.  Drizzled and dunked into chocolate tops this cookie off and puts it at the top of my list.  I love the texture with crunch on the outside and slightly soft in the middle.  I adore the combo of sweet and hot from the ginger and pepper.  It takes me a fair amount of time to devour this lovely creation and leaves me wanting more.  Thank you Leslie and thank you La Vie En Rose Bakery.

Confetti Cupcakes

DSCN4589A friend and I programed the GPS (Rosa) for a new cupcake bakery and followed the clues to a sweet little store in Issaquah…in the state of Washington.  The cupcake to the right is the Chocolate and White version.  A lovely option.  My favorite?  Red Velvet!   Sadly R.V. didn’t make it home in good shape for a picture.  Let me tell you it did NOT effect the flavor.  I was in glory.  The cake so moist and flavorful, the cream cheese frosting was a perfect companionship.  Folks, red velvet is not just a cake colored red and in the hands of this baker she knows that!  I am surprised because this usually is not my ‘go to’ in flavors.  This one has inspired me to make a new pen topper.  Soon I will unveil the newest ‘topper’ on my site and a picture on the blog.

DSCN4593Next on the list was the ‘Elvis’ cupcake.  A banana infused cake with peanut butter filling and a chocolate frosting.   This cupcake was of the not too sweet variety and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The fresh banana flavor with the smooth peanut butter would’ve made the King proud.   I’m all shook up.

Last but not least was my daughters favorite, raspberry filled.  This pink fluffy topped cake and delicate non-periels was fit for a princess.  That DSCN4600was probably why she identified with this one so closely.  The cake was light and the filling just sweet enough and oh so fresh.  I just may invite them for our next tea party.

Please stop by for a treat at:  Confetti Cupcakes  94 Front Street North  Issaquah, WA  98027 (425) 369-2225

How to Eat a Cupcake.

DSCN4073So, I know my kids have done the writing assignment ‘How to Eat an Oreo’ in grade school.  The obvious reason is to improve their writing skills.  Usually, it ended up with a great piece of prose and a bag of cookies in their belly.  OK, my belly too.  Hey, I help my kids with their homework!  So this is my version and my delite to my sweet tooth.

Step #1:  Plate a cupcake (my favorite-coffee flavor from Le Cupcake) and retrieve a fork.  Sample the fluffy frosting and savour the smooth texture.

Step #2:  Peel off the paper wrapper.  In your next fork full (the good sterling only please) sample the frosting and the cake together.  The crunch of the crown combined with creaminess of the topping sets my taste buds a glow.

Step #3:  Slice down the middle of your confection to discover the luscious center and tender crumb.  This step is probably one of my favorites.  I can hardly look at the photo right now without speeding down to my favorite bakery.  Witness the soft center overflowing onto the plate, I can hardly stand it.  To quote my daughter “wait for it, wait for it”.  Feasting with your eyes only will lead to a glorious indulgent experience.

Step #4:  You’ve waited long enough!  The time has come…go!  Whether you feast slowly or quickly, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.  Sometimes a cup of ‘joe’ accompanies my cupcake heavenly moment of time.

It’s over…. until the next time.  All is left is the clean-up and the deposit of your plate and fork in their appropriate location.  Was it worth it?  Oh, yes.  Would I do it again?  Of course.  Would I change anything?  Maybe?  Possibly, it would be two cakes of a different flavor??  Just to compare folks, remember I am a professional.  Take caution if you try the double dose on your own.

Most importantly invite a friend to join you on your adventure.  Never miss an opportunity to celebrate.

Cupcake Blossoms?

DSCN4117

Once upon a time there was a lovely lady named Annie.  It was a beautiful sunny day, perfect for a stroll down the boulevard.  When what should appear before her eyes but tiny little blossoms that resembled sweet confections of cupcakes.  Could it be?  Were my eyes deceiving me?   Catching the sweet aroma of almond and vanilla.  For a closer look I went.   It was true.  Tiny precious buds.  Excitement filled my heart.  With my trusty camera in tow I snapped a shot to share with believers and non-believers alike.  I vow to keep a watchful eye on these babies in the hopes of a harvest of delightful treats.  Cupcakes don’t grow on trees…or do they?

Carpe Cupcake,

Annie

Dedicated to my Daddy 2-17-24 to 3-4-10.   Looks like water on your nose but it’s not.  Thanks for the creative gene.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Cupcake?

DSCN4009                Directly from Le Cupcake in Graham, Washington I bring you the Chocolate Chip Cookie Cupcake.  Yup, it’s true ‘C’ is for Cupcake.  This baby takes the cake….man, I’m good!  A moist cupcake with a chewy cookie and topped with buttercream frosting.  I was in heaven for the blissful minutes it took for me to reduce this treat to crumbs.  Lehte Allen and her family run this bakery/restaurant.  Lehte graduated from California Culinary Academy in 2005.  They are open from 10:30 to 8:00 Tuesday thru Friday.  Saturday from 9:00 to 8:00 and Sunday from 9:00 to 5:00.  On the weekends they serve a brunch for $4.50.

So, as the picture so rightly says:  ‘Enjoy’ a trip to Le Cupcake

at 9915 224th St. E., Suite 218.
